Day 142: Timber

Day 142: Timber

We went to our friends’ housewarning slash graduation slash barbecue party. And this is Timber, one of our hosts’ friends’ dogs.

I was shooting him as he was gnawing on a bone when my friend said she could make things more interesting. She then proceeded to throw a log section (yes, a log), as if she were playing fetch with him. Timber went crazy with it. The log was almost a foot in diameter, and he was trying to put it in his mouth to carry it. It was quite a spectacle, and everyone understood why his name is “Timber”.

This was a shot during one of his short breaks in between attempts to carry the log in his mouth.

Day 106: Flower Shop Dog

Day 106: Flower Shop Dog

My fiancée and I dropped by a local flowershop to order her wedding bouquet. There were a few dogs in the shop, and they were busy playing.

I asked the flower shop owner if I could take pictures of her dogs, and she said I could knock myself out. As with most dogs, this one momentarily took  interest on the lens being pointed (and extending towards) at him. I managed to get a few shots before he lost interest and resumed playing with the two other dogs.

Day 60: Jack

Day 60: Jack

This is Jack, my sister and brother-in-law’s Labrador. Handsome, isn’t he? I missed him a lot, and made sure to give him a lot of affection while I was there.

It’s as if he enjoys having cameras pointed at him. I took a lot of photos, and it seemed he posed for most of them while maintaining an air of indifference.

Day 44: Scooter

Day 44: Scooter

I dropped by the old apartment to pick up the remainder of the items I left there.

My neighbors saw my car parked by the building. They knocked on my door. In their hands was a leash, and on the other end of it was this cute dog they had just rescued from the shelter.

His name is Scooter. He’s a couple of months old, and very cute.

I learned from this shoot just how difficult it is to take a picture of a subject that just will not stand still. I now have a renewed admiration of people who manage to observe things like the rule of thirds for such subjects. As it was, I was lucky to even have a shot that wasn’t blurred.
