Day 47: Red and White Roses

I needed pictures of red and white roses for a website I’m working on. I thought I’d wait after Valentine’s day to buy roses in the hope that they’ll be cheaper.

Day 45: Wooden Heart

My unpacking continues. I saw this among the things that my Mom asked me to hold on for her when she moved out-of-state. It’s something in which to hang necklaces. Only then did I remember that it was Valentine’s day. I looked to my right around, and there was my fluffy red blanket on a pile on the floor.

Things seemed to have conspired for me to take a Valentine’s-themed photo.

Day 38: Chinese Chess

Unpacking stuff from boxes from yesterday’s move, I found this. It was gift from a good friend of mine taken back from a visit from Hong Kong.

I have no idea how to play Chinese Chess, or even if I had the central piece rightside up in the photo.

Day 24: Empty Nest

Day 24: Empty Nest

A decrepit and abandoned wasp nest just outside my apartment’s front door. It’s been there for maybe one and a half years.

It’s survived that long, despite being made of paper, because it’s under the overhang of the railing of my patio (if you can call it that).

In the interest of full disclosure, I made it abandoned. I tried to let them live in peace, but soon one wasp turned into many, and every time I walked by they would stop whatever they were doing and look at me. I was afraid to even get close. Fearing the eventual swarm of angry, stinging wasps, one night I sprayed the nest with wasp killer. That killed the adults. In the next couple of days, the larva followed. I found them dead on the ground. My guess is without the adults to regulate the temperature by beating their wings on the larva, they got too hot and crawled out.

I felt very bad.

Day 15: Burnt-out Stars

It’s late in the evening and I was still at the office. I was getting hungry, so I went to the break room to grab the dinner I packed for myself.

While microwaving my food, I spotted these used birthday candles on top of the microwave oven. I decided to borrow them for Project 365.

Too bad indigo was missing. I’d have had all colors of the rainbow.

Day 3: Dreams of Flight

I had fun with this one. This is the first time I did things this way.

Nothing interesting happened today, and the falling snow outside wasn’t something I wanted to deal with just to look for something to shoot. So I just went out to buy some Play-Doh to execute an idea I had.

The pelican is a carving on top of my letter opener. I stuck the letter opener in the Play-Doh (I think I’ll be using this a lot for that purpose), then I placed a magazine with a photo of the sky behind it. Pointed a lamp on the background and then positioned another lamp as fill light for the pelican.
